Welcome to August Newsletter!
Are curiosity, adventure, and spontaneity allowed on your list of personality traits?

As we grow older, our lists tend to get crowded with words like responsible, organized, efficient, and focused. We build solid routines to keep our lives running smoothly. But sometimes, those routines turn into an accidental prison. We slide into autopilot, locking out the exact things that make us feel truly alive.

We need to allow small adventures back into our lives.

Brain Food: Curiosity and Vitality

This isn’t just about having fun; it is a neurological necessity. Neuroscientists view intentional novelty and curiosity as essential, non-negotiable requirements for lifelong brain vitality and cognitive longevity.

When you try something new, your brain builds entirely new neural pathways. It keeps you young, adaptable, and vibrant. The absolute enemy of a healthy brain is staying on autopilot.

Hollywood Reminders

Pop culture loves to remind us of what happens when we choose to break out of our rigid patterns and welcome the unexpected.

  • Yes Man: Jim Carrey shows us how opening up to casual, unexpected opportunities can completely transform a stagnant life from the ground up.

  • Yes Day: Jennifer Garner reminds parents that breaking the rules of "no" can bring pure, unadulterated joy and reconnection.

While you might not want to say yes to literally everything, these stories highlight a deeper truth. We need moments where we lower our guard, shake up our routine, and let the world back in.

A Quick Question for You

Think back to your last few weeks. What was the last thing you said yes to purely for fun, or simply out of curiosity?

If you have to think about it for more than a few seconds, that is your sign to push yourself out of autopilot. Start simple: take a new route to work, order a new cuisine, or say hello to a coworker you never say hello to. When you feel the magic, go as big as blocking out a square on your calendar, channel your inner Hollywood protagonist, and schedule your very own "Yes Day."

Let’s Rediscover Your "Yes"

It sounds simple on paper, but breaking out of routine is hard when autopilot has taken over. If you can’t see yourself indulging your creative, curious, and spontaneous version right now—or if you feel too buried under daily demands to even know what you would say yes to—reach out.

As a coach, I am here to help you clear the clutter, redefine your days, and safely step out of autopilot. Let’s work together to bring that vibrant, curious side of you back to the forefront.
