Finding the Secret Door: How to Break Through Life’s Heaviest Walls

A hands-on art and somatic practice to physically shift our relationship with these blocks, proving that no obstacle is truly absolute

On our latest live community call of The Bonfire Brew, Wednesday July 15th, we gathered to explore a powerful truth: how to move past the heavy, solid obstacles that seem to stand between us and our deepest desires. Whether it is a health goal we feel blocked from reaching or a career move where we feel we lack connections, we often view these barriers as permanent.

During the call, we used a hands-on art and somatic practice to physically change our relationship with these blocks, proving that no obstacle is truly absolute. If you missed the live circle or want to experience this breakthrough for yourself, find a quiet space, grab two sheets of paper, and follow the self-paced steps below.

What You Need:

  • 2 sheets of blank paper

  • A pen

Step 1: Prepare Your Pages

Take your two sheets of paper and label them clearly:

  • Sheet 1: Label the front Page 1 and the back Page 2.

  • Sheet 2: Label the front Page 3 and the back Page 4.

Step 2: Draw Your Desire & Feel the Outcome (Sheet 2)

  • On Page 3: Draw something you deeply want right now, but feel blocked from getting. (Example: A new job, a healthier body, or a creative project).

  • On Page 4 (the back): Write down the exact emotions you would feel if you successfully achieved this thing. Would you feel strong? Beautiful? Valued? Productive? Free? Focus entirely on the feeling, not just the object.

Step 3: Face Your Wall (Sheet 1)

  • On Page 1: Draw a heavy brick or stone wall. Make it look as solid and blocking as it feels in your mind.

  • On Page 2 (the back): Write down how this wall makes you feel when you look at it.

Step 4: Feel the Block

Now, take Sheet 1 (The Wall) and place it directly on top of Sheet 2 (The Desire). Sit with this visual for a moment. Look at how your heaviest obstacle is completely covering and blocking your deepest dream. Let yourself feel the weight of that barrier.

Step 5: Remember the Universal Truth

Look at your heavy wall. It feels permanent. But, nothing in this universe is absolute. No stone wall is perfectly sealed. Even the strongest concrete has tiny cracks where water leaks through or a small green plant grows.

Think back to a time in your past when you thought a situation was completely dead or finished, but the cards suddenly turned, and you were pleasantly surprised. The universe is always shifting, even when we cannot see it. Your block is not permanent. The beautiful thing about these secret doors is that you don't need to know exactly what they look like or where they are right now. You just need to believe that they exist. Once you believe it, they will show up.

Step 6: Tear Open the Secret Door

Take your pen and look at the bricks you drew on Page 1. Find a flaw or a seam in the stones. Trace your pen around a few of those bricks to outline a small door.

Now, use your fingers to carefully tear along those pen lines, leaving just one side attached like a hinge. Fold back the paper. You have just physically created a secret door.

Step 7: See Through the Barrier

Place Sheet 1 back on top of Sheet 2. Open your new paper door and peer through the hole. You can now see your desire page right through the middle of the wall you thought was solid. Both the wall and the desire are real—but the door is real too. As soon as you believe the door is there, it opens.

Step 8: Create Your Everyday Anchor

Think of one specific negative thought or wall you face frequently in your daily routine (e.g., when you look in the mirror or open your laptop).

Next to your secret door, write down one small action you will take to remind yourself of this secret door next time you face that thought. Will you put a sticky note on your computer? Will you look at your hand and visualize a door hinge? Create your reminder trigger today.
