Welcome to June Newsletter!
Our journey in this world is defined by a single beautiful boundary: the period between our very first breath without the umbilical cord and our final exhale.
Over an average lifespan, a human being will take over 600 million breaths. Yet, despite breathing roughly 20,000 times every single day, many of us go through life without ever learning how to breathe correctly or paying attention to our breathing patterns.
Every breathing pattern act as a mirror, revealing exactly what emotional or physical state your body is currently in. The good news? We can actively change our state by changing our breath.
Let's test two completely different breathing patterns right now to feel this shift in real time.
Pattern 1: The Deep Belly Breath (For Calm)
Use this seated pattern when you need to slow down, ground yourself, and rest. Scientific research shows that diaphragmatic belly breathing is the natural, optimal way to breathe when our body is relaxed.
Straighten your back comfortably, without rigidity.
Drop your shoulders back and down.
Expand your belly as you inhale deeply through your nose.
Contract your navel toward your spine as you exhale through your nose.
Pattern 2: The Breath of Fire (For Energy)
Use this standing pattern when you feel sluggish and need to move stagnant energy, build heat, and ignite your inner power. It rapidly activates the core and stimulates your adrenal glands to boost alertness.
Stand up straight with your spine long and tall.
Place your feet shoulder-width apart for a stable base.
Rest your hands gently on your lower belly to feel the movement.
Exhale sharply and forcefully through your nose by quickly snapping your navel back toward your spine.
Relax your belly completely to let the inhalation happen automatically and passively.
Repeat this fast-pumping cycle rhythmically, keeping your face and chest relaxed.
Did you feel the difference?
The invitation is to repeat these breathing patterns throughout the day as needed and be mindful of your health and state.
